Dr. Pia L. Scott is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the manager of College-to-Career programs and adjunct professor for a large research institution in Atlanta. She is the CEO and founder of CareerLit Consulting Services which provides small business development consulting and other services for transitioning professionals. Pia attended South Carolina State University where she received her Bachelors in Criminal Justice and Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling. She completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership & Management with a focus in Higher Education from Drexel University after successful defense of her dissertation entitled, “African American Men Speak: Unheard Perspectives of the Self-Paced In Class Education Program (SPICE) and Reentry in the 21st Century.”

 

 

Her dedication to her scholarly work has resulted in professional presentations at the prestigious Columbia University and other national conferences focused on prisoner reentry and the School-to-Prison-Pipeline. She has held leadership roles while in school and is currently working with several non-profit organizations as the Director of Planning & Procurement. These organizations are dedicated to providing access to healthcare, workforce development, and other resources to support the community.

 

 

With a passion for working with youth, she volunteers her time to educating and working with youth through the nonprofit Creating Our Future, Inc. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of South Carolina and will be licensed in the State of Georgia. She is dedicated to issues such as mental health, HIV, and human trafficking that impact the community. As a certified Global Career Development Facilitator, Pia provides training for career counselors and other professionals through workshops, seminars, and speaking engagements. She is the founder of Seth’s Heart Foundation in memory of her brother who died from Leukemia at the age of 24. She embarks on a career of teaching, mentoring, and counseling in a variety of settings from human services, education, and state governments. Pia’s passion is clearly evident through her service, dedication, and purpose in serving others.
